County Championship Weekend

The County, Colts and Handicap Championships were held over the weekend of 4th & 5th June. Bedfordshire Golf Club kindly agree to host the Championships as part of the celebrations to mark their 125th anniversary. Many congratulations to them on this anniversary and a very special thank you to all the bar and catering staff, the greenkeeping staff and the office staff for whom nothing was too much trouble which all contributed to a great weekend. Thanks also to the members for the use of their course.

The County Champion was Ryan Craig (Dunstable Downs) who just pipped long time leader, Sebastian Lovell (Bedfordshire) by 1 shot to be crowned Champion. He is pictured below with the President.

Sebastian Lovell (Bedfordshire) was Colts Champion, however, which hopefully softened the blow of losing out by the narrowest of margins for the main prize. He is again pictured below with The President.

County Team Champions - with the lowest score over Saturday's 36 holes - were Dunstable Downs on countback from Bedfordshire Golf Club. Congratulations to them, but commiserations to the home club. Their team of Paul Kenna, Ryan Smith and Ryan Craig are pictured below.

The County Handicap winner was Mark Griffiths (The Millbrook) who shot a nett level par of 140 for 36 holes. Mark is pictured below.

Thank you again to everyone at Bedfordshire Golf Club, to all those who entered and played and to all the County Officials for all their help and assistance. A special thank you to David Corfan, Competition Secretary who did all the hard work in the run up to the competition and who had a very long and tiring weekend..
