Tavistock Trophy Final

The Final of the 2017 Tavistock Trophy was played on the Baron Course at Beadlow Manor Golf Club on Friday 25th August 2017.

In glorious weather teams of six players from Bedford & County, John O'Gaunt and Beadlow Manor played a full handicap individual strokeplay round and the scores of the six team members were then used to calculate the team scores for the Tavistock Trophy. The two best gross scores from each team are taken along with the two best net scores from the remaining four players. This is an interesting format which ensures that all team members should feel that they have something to contribute right up to the end of their rounds.

There was some very good golf on display with some good scores returned. Bedford & County with a creditable score of 292 were just beaten to the title by Beadlow Manor who came in with 290. Nice to see that the final was once again keenly fought out by competent and competitive teams. This is the fifth consecutive year that Beadlow Manor has won the trophy. Congratulations to them for having performed consistently well in this competition - the format clearly suits them.

A special mention to Jessica Sporle of John O'Gaunt who posted a gross 89/net 67 which is 7 under par for her. Well done.
