We today entertained the Essex team at Pavenham Park Golf Club in the first League Match of the season.
Last year we had a win against them at Upminster and were hoping to continue our success – but sadly this was not to be. Tim Bevan went out first and had a good draw against one of their top players. Bill Love came in as a late replacement for Brendan Walsh who had to withdraw with an ankle injury. This was a good replacement as Bill also pulled out a draw against top opposition.
As normal, of course, we could rely on a win from Phil Corke who upped and downed from distance on the 18th green to take the match. Those that know Pavenham know how easy that is!! The rest of us lost our matches unfortunately, but once again a great spirit within the teams and hoping for better results in other forthcoming matches. Peter Jones Seniors Captain
