Match report
Our last game of the season took us to Old Fold Manor, to face another tough Hertfordshire side.
The course was in excellent condition and the team were again up against it from the start. But,
as usual, everyone showed remarkable spirit, fighting for every hole. It's extremely tough when
you come up against teams where 2 handicappers struggle to get in their side, but we always
battle on.
Although there were a few big losses, both Tim and John's opponents were well under par for
their rounds, which is hard to live with. A great performance from Colin Moody who
unfortunately lost the last to come away with a half, when it looked like a good win was on the
cards. Charlie Snelling also put in a strong performance, holding Bob Head to a half.
Performance of the day goes to debutante Paul Wharton, who started his seniors career with a
sparkling 5&4 victory! He will make a big difference to the side next year and is very keen to be
involved, which bodes well for the squad.
An 8 – 2 loss may look bad but they were only missing two players from their strongest available
team and I'm proud of the fight and spirit our team continues to show.
Finally, a big thank you to all the guys who have given up days off, changed appointments and
generally shown great enthusiasm to turn out for Bedfordshire Seniors this year. There's not a
team we play, either league, or friendly, that has the team spirit, camaraderie and drive that we
possess.
