The results show as foursomes, AM & PM, because of limitations of match formats in the software. This fixture was, however, Greensomes in the morning and Fourball in the afternoon.

Match Report

Our inaugural pre-season friendly with Northamptonshire Seniors finally happened! We have tried a couple of times to set this match up but for different reasons it didn’t happen.

We hosted the event at Bedford & County on what turned out to be the hottest September day than even before Peter Jones was born!!

The morning greensomes went in our favour 3 ½ - 2 ½ with wins for the pairings of Rob Westgate & Alan Wright, Peter Dobson & Andy Brown and Colin Moody & Phil White.

The afternoon got hotter and we appeared to struggle a bit. Northants raised their game and matches that were going our way, or were close, slipped away from us. We only managed two wins in the afternoon matches and, as they were for 2 points each, a small morning advantage turned into an afternoon defeat.

Both pairs of Peter Dobson & Andy Brown and Colin Moody & Phil White remained unbeaten both morning and afternoon. Well done to them. Thanks also to Mick Parrett and Bill Love for stepping in at short notice when I had a couple of unavoidable drop outs.

Finally, thanks to Bedford & County for hosting the match. Let’s hope that next year’s return fixture has a better outcome for us.
