Despite the weather Gods being on our side on Saturday, the Under 18 Squad’s pre-match preparation could not have been worse with the Team Minibus deciding to put the Team Manager’s organisational talents to the ultimate test by breaking down some 50 miles short of the venue, Bawburgh Golf Club!
Nonetheless, the team managed to arrive at Bawburgh Golf Club with not much time to spare before the first tee time. Despite valiant efforts from Team Bedfordshire, the Norfolk side on home soil took full advantage of their good fortune and won the match 6-2. Our winning matches came from Jack Manley and Joel Gosling.
That said, Team Bedfordshire beat Suffolk 5½ to 2½ with creditable wins from Matthew Green, Elliot Smith, Jamie Gibbons, Jack Manley and Joel Gosling and George Garnham earning a well deserved half.
So the League remains finely poised with Norfolk enjoying a 2 point lead over Bedfordshire and all to play for at Millbrook GC in July.
Special thanks must go to Norfolk’s team and management who were magnanimous in delaying the start time as well as hosting the event at a very well prepared course.
