The match was held in Colchester at The Essex Golf and Country Club. On an extremely hot day the team, once again, was unable to perform to it’s potential. The Essex is a fairly modern golf course with wide fairways but extremely long. The Club asked the Essex Senior’s Manager which tees he would want us to play from, and he asked for the white tees. Not having looked at the course length before deciding on the white tees, little did he know that the actual length from the white tees was a whopping 7019 yards!!
It was a disappointing result from Bedfordshire because we had actually beaten the Essex team in the 6 a-side at Moor Park last month. Once again the hospitality from Essex was excellent and the normal banter was in full flow. We now go on to play Middlesex at Aspley Guise on 6th August and hope that we can step our games up and get a result.
The final result of the Essex match was 8 points to 2 in their favour, the 2 points for us being gained by Mike Turnoch and Tim Bevan. Well done you guys for a great performance.
