SENIOR CAPTAINS REPORT FOR NORFOLK MATCH 22.4.2013
Our annual friendly match against Norfolk was held at Sprowston Manor Golf Club in Norwich. The course prides itself in being one of the best inland courses within the County. The match consisted of a twelve man team playing 9 holes greensomes in the morning followed by 18 holes fourball in the afternoon. We welcomed two new players to the squad in John Haines from The Bedfordshire and Peter Dobson from JOG. Peter is an ex Cambridgeshire player who has now moved to Bedfordshire.
Unfortunately, the greens were absolutely terrible and to be truthful, Norfolk managed them much better than we did ourselves. It might just have helped them in as much as they were able to have a practice round so they were well aware of what was to be expected.
Of the six matches played in the morning, we managed one win and two halves giving Norfolk a 4 point to 2 advantage going into the afternoon. The afternoon fourball matches turned out even worse with Norfolk winning every match – so a 6 nil result for them.
My thanks go to all the team for making the journey to Norfolk but resulting in a very definite loss and also to Gordon Fuller for coming along and supporting the team. Hopefully we will pick ourselves up and put up a good fight with our league match against Hertfordshire next Monday. They only have 3 players off a plus handicap – so no problems really lol.

NB> The playing format used in this friendly match against Norfolk is not currently supported by intelligentgolf. The match itself was played by six pairs from each County who played Greensomes in the morning and Fourballs in the afternoon. Both morning and afternoon rounds are shown in the results as being Foursomes, however, but the players and results are correct!
