SENIORS CAPTAIN REPORT FOR HERTS LEAGUE MATCH 29.4.2013
This match was held at Bedford & County Golf Club on a bright but very windy day. We had a couple of new team members for this match – and the inauguration turned out to be a tough one. Ian Glantz from South Beds and Peter Dobson from JOG made their debut league matches and unfortunately came up against two England Senior International players who played of a +2 handicap. However, neither of them disgraced themselves and although they lost their matches they both put of great performances. In fact, Hertfordshire had 3 International players off a +2 handicap so they were obviously taking our league match seriously. Of their 10 man team the remaining 7 players had a handicap no higher than 2 so it was always going to be a very tough match for us. A number of matches were extremely close and were only lost 1 down – so another day who knows how these games could have gone. Congratulations to Jim Gleasure for his win over David Hannhauser – a well known very competitive player for Hertfordshire. Everybody had a great day and a message was received afterwards from the Herts Manager congratulating the Bedfordshire team on a great effort, and also confirming that some matches could easily have gone our way.
The course was in a very good condition, and the greens were absolutely first class. All the Herts players congratulated the Club on the speed and trueness of the greens – some of them saying they were best they have played on so far this year.
