Seniors Cambridgeshire v Bedfordshire at St Ives GC

The Seniors first match of season was unfortunately called off due to a dreadful weather forecast which did not materialise, however our second friendly played on Friday 4th May at St Ives Golf Club went ahead in glorious conditions.

A relatively new look seniors team got off to a cracking start winning the morning greensomes 4.5 to 1.5 with wins coming from Banwell and Stokes, Brown and Beard, Mott and Haines and Snelling and Smith.

The afternoon fourballs went the other way with Cambridgeshire mounting a comeback winning 3 and halving 1 match, with 3 matches being decided on the final green. Wins for Bedfordshire came from Brown and Beard, Sullivan and Bevan with Stokes and Banwell halving on the final green.

The final score saw Bedfordshire run out winners with the score at 9.5 to 8.5 and recaptured the Rhea cup from Cambridgeshire.

A terrific day was had by all and the course and hospitality were excellent.

Bedfordshire Seniors move on to play their first league match of the season at Moor Park against Hertfordshire on Wednesday 9th May.
