Bedfordshire County Golf

Sad news

It is with great sadness that we report that Kate Wright passed away on Tuesday August 18th 2020 at the age of just 36.  Kate was a junior, second team and then a first team county player.  She was most of all a character, full of fun and a good team player.  Her first team debut was memorable as, playing with Lizzie Sweetnam, they were named the ‘Dream Team’ due to winning all their matches.   Kate was an attacking golfer, not afraid to take risks, and her putting was exactly the same.  It was lovely to watch her hole 20 foot putts with abandon playing for the county – not so nice playing against her in the County Championship or a scratch match!   Due to her successful career with the European Tour she has not been able to represent the county for a few years but was back playing at her home club, Leighton Buzzard until recently.  We will miss her humour and her sense of fun.
