Report Colts Match v Essex/Herts 30th April Millbrook Golf Club
The first of our 3 triangular colts matches this season saw us on home territory at The Millbrook Golf Club.
The course was at it’s finest, greens were running at 12 on the stimpmeter, tees and fairways were immaculate too.
The foursomes matches were a close affair, Beds pairing of our two youngest players Ryan Smith and Ryan Craig played excellently and won both matches 6/4 & 2/1 against the Herts and Essex pairings.
The matches at lunchtime were evenly poised for the afternoon singles 2-2 with Herts 1.5 - 2.5 with Essex.
Unfortunately for Beds when being up in 3 of our first four singles matches one or two errors proved costly, resulting in us only picking up half point from a possible 8.
The other 4 matches only fared slightly better and what was an encouraging start to day ended in a disappointment for the Beds team losing to both of our opponents.
A special mention and congratulations to Ryan Craig playing in his second colts match achieved maximum points with four very good wins for the team, then to carry his good form over to the next day when him and his partner Brandon Black were worthy winners in the County Foursomes at South Beds GC.
