On Sunday 22nd April the Colts played the Seniors in a friendly at the Bedford Golf Club.

The match was played as fourball betterball over the front nine and foursomes over the back with a point available for each all playing off scratch. The results on the website, however show them the other way round as the site isn't setup for this unusual format!

Harry Williams and Phil Corke led the way taking on a tough pairing of Connor Boyle and Nick Cunningham in tough, cold and windy conditions. The youngsters led the way in the betterball  winning  4-3 but struggled to find any consistency in the foursomes losing 2-1.

Brendan Walsh and Joe Griffiths gave the Colts pairing of Aaron Roberts and Tom Edmunds a tough time not letting them in to either game, running out 2up and 1up.

The Colts needed some form of response and got it in the next game with Bill Love and Gordon Fuller coming up against a very in form Alex Harris and Alex Bithrey. The Colt pairing played top quality golf winning both games 3-2.

Next up was the Seniors captain Peter Jones and his double act partner Steve Montague who came up against Craig Lefcovitch and Bradley Finch. The seniors pair took the youngsters by surprise with four and a half hours of non- stop banter and took a half in the fourball and just stole the foursomes before the hail started.

County president Clive Allen and Les Sharman had another good game at the back of the field against Jack Leek and Harry Noton winning 3-1 and losing 3-1.

All this brought us to a final result of Seniors 5.5 Colts 4.5 a great result for the Seniors,  against a reasonably strong Colts side.

Dave Weedon, Team Manager.
