Managers’ Report:

The opportunity afforded by this friendly fixture, against Cambs., gave us the chance to try out an experimental team made up with many untested players.

The morning ‘Foursomes’ was a bit of a struggle with the conditions. Stiff winds and soggy grounds, resulting in a few mud balls when fairways were missed.

The pairings fought hard, with good performances from some individual players.

Unfortunately, Cambs. ultimately came out on top, 3 ½ to 1 ½.

The afternoon ‘Singles’ brought out some more good performances, with only 3 of the matches not progressing beyond the 15th hole. Four matches resulted in points for Beds.

However, as in the morning, Cambs. prevailed for the afternoon, 8 ½ to 3 ½.

Match result: 13 – 5 Cambs.

I would like, at this time, to thank Margaret Seabrook and Gary Boyle for coming along and supporting the team.

A special note of gratitude must be given to Margaret, for taking one of our team to hospital after he was struck on the ankle by a ball.

Also, many thanks to Scott Armitage, who stepped in for the afternoon match, to replace Bradley.

I can report that, although he is badly bruised, Bradley has no permanent damage and is on the mend.

This was an important exercise to aid in identify prospective first team players, with the end goal being a stronger, more successful Bedfordshire Team.
