East Region Foursomes Championship 2017

East Region Foursomes Championship 2017

The East Region Foursomes Championship for 2017 was held in Bedfordshire at South Beds Golf Course.  36 teams took part from the 6 counties in the region, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambs & Hunt, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

South Beds Golf Course was in excellent condition with fairly hot greens for this time of the year.  This did cause a few 3 putts to add to playing alternative shots.

Home advantage paid off and the East Region Foursomes Championship title has come back to Bedfordshire County. Sophie Hillier from John O Gaunt & our current County Champion Annabel Pitts from Beadlow Manor and now a member also of South Beds being crowned champions.  They opened up with gross 78, got into a bit trouble on the second 18 but still managed to shoot a gross 83.

Anne Mooney and Christine McDermott (South Beds GC) made the most of their home club advantage with a fantastic performance and winning the East Region nett prize. Congrats also to another South Beds pairing, Sarah Russell and Jean Hoar who were nett runners up.

Thanks and appreciation to Kim Burnage (East Region delegate) for organising a superb championship. Thank you to South Beds Golf Club for hosting this event; in particular to the catering staff and all the ladies who organised the refreshments, it was very much appreciated by those playing today. Prizes were presented by County President Heddwen Molloy.
