SEG Boys' Qualifier 2023 at John O'Gaunt GC

As part of the John O’Gaunt’s 75th Celebrations, the Club hosted what is commonly known as U18 Boys 6 man competition on the 4th July.   Eleven Counties from the South East sent teams of six boys to compete in this annual event.   This year it was the turn of Bedfordshire to host the competition.    In the early damp conditions the Bedfordshire team of Harry Lake, Connor Tallentire, Dillon Basi, James Stocks, Vikram Singh and William Mowe set out to put Bedfordshire on the map competing against some very strong opposition - more than half the field had "plus" handicaps.  At the half way stage Bedfordshire was in fifth place thanks to a very composed round of level par from the Captain, Harry, and one over par from James.  Connor had a stunning finish of eagle, birdie for a 6 over round to match that of Dillon.    Vikram and William brought home the all important fifth score.   As the team went out for the second round, the forecasted torrential rain began to fall.    Leading the way Dillon shot a stunning one under par to put the team on track for its best ever finish.   Supporting Dillon, Connor came in with a one over par, while Harry and James battled to a 6 over par in the worst of the afternoon's conditions.   Once again William and Vikram battled hard as the weather deteriorated and contributed to the team’s best ever 5th position.   Nobody should be in any doubt as to the significance of finishing fifth in this event.   Well done lads!
