The County B Championships were held on Sunday 17th October at The Bedfordshire Golf Club. The weather was kind with sunshine and hardly any wind. The morning conditions were clearly suited to Craig Lefcovitch (The Millbrook) who shot a superb gross 67 - 3 under par to lead by 4 shots at lunch from Neil Willson, the defending Champion. Given the 6.00 pm sunset in October and the threat of overnight frost meaning a potentially delayed start, the competition was reduced to 27 holes. With only nine holes to make up those shots, Neill fell agonisingly short of retaining the title by one shot, leaving Craig Lefcovitch as this years worthy winner. Craig is pictured receiving the trophy from County President, Chris Foster.
The handicap Champion was Mick Higgins (Stockwood Park) who shot a great nett score for the 27 holes of 99 (gross 108) of his 6 handicap. The other winners can be found in the sheet below.
All first round scores have been uploaded to the Central Database of Handicaps and just need downloading by individual Clubs to ensure any handicap adjustments are made. The CSS on the morning round was 71 - the afternoon 9 holes was a non-qualifier.
Thanks to all those who entered and to the Bedfordshire Golf Club for their efforts and hospitality on the day.
