Our first friendly of the season took us to Swaffham GC in Norfolk. A breezy day with forecast afternoon showers saw us in good spirits as we teed off. The course was in good condition but with some fusarium on the greens, they were obviously leaving the grass long to help combat it and the greens were VERY slow. Probably around 5 or 6 on the stimp! Not what we’ve been used to, even this early in the season!

The morning greensomes didn’t go too well for us with only one win and a half out of 6 matches to take in to lunch.

The afternoon fourballs were a much tighter affair. Even so, it appeared that it was not to be our day. Evidenced by Tim Bevan & Mick Parrett starting a fightback by winning 14th, only to lose 15th when their opponents holed out from 100yds for an eagle! Charlie Snelling and I held on grimly, after being 4 up at the turn, our opponents played the back 9 in 3 under gross, for us to scramble a 1up win! More good work from the pairing of Colin Moody and debutant Peter Mott to win their 2nd match of the day, great job boys!

We look forward to gaining our revenge next year when we host them.
