U18 Update

After the success in the BUT Trophy in April, the U18 Team played the first league match at Dunstable Downs on Saturday 4th May. This was a triangular match against teams from both Norfolk and Suffolk.

We weren't surprised that it was windy at Dunstable but the temperature was certainly a shock - it was bitter and at times wet. However, a bit of weather isn't enough to perturb the Bedfordshire lads.

Captain, Will Glenister, was very quick on the day (no pace of play issue here) but sadly he was so quick that it didn't take very long for him to lose heavily in both matches. Thankfully, Brandon Sanders immediately got us back on track with two impressive wins. Jack Manley secured one win and he was followed by Arnie Arkanath who got the two points. Eddie Stephenson got a point and Aidan Abbott and Andres Valentine won both matches. Matt Green won a point against Norfolk and got the important half that gave us the overall win against Suffolk.

Final scores were:  Bedfordshire beat Norfolk 7 - 1 and Suffolk 4.5 - 3.5 and Suffolk beat Norfolk 6.5 - 1.5

So after the first round of matches Bedfordshire are top of the league but there's still a long way to go. The next match is at Costessey in Norfolk on 25th May.

Well done to all the lads who put up another great display of matchplay golf.
