Stuart Goode Trophy 2022

Tuesday 22nd March 2022

A fantastic performance from Junior Alex Robins saw him win all 3 of his leading games against the legendry Phil Sutton, First team player Scott Armitage and Colts Joe Kirby. First Team Skipper Rob Brightman led the way for the First Team with 3 wins before Colts Matt Green brought 3 points home. Carmine De Silva gave a late showing for the Seniors with a full house, and plaudits must go to Junior Harry Lake for a never say die 3 halves. However it all came down to the last match where the ever improving Aidan Abbott brought home 2.5 points for the Colts as did the ever reliable Paul Kitching. The result being First & Colts drawing 13.5 each, closely followed by the Seniors and Juniors. Pictured below skippers Rob Brightman & Ollie Bryant.

Latest news from the Captain

March 2022

Dear Bedfordshire Captains and fellow Athletes

You will all have received from Chris the Matches and Events for our Half Centenary year; this promises to be a stunning year. So please make your choices and get them back to Chris as we are meeting next week to finalise the teams for our Match Managers.

NB Please do not forget our Away day at Ashridge on 20th July, Chris tells me we only have a few places left, thank you for your support.

Following on from our Christmas event at John O Gaunt I would like to support a Charity this year, so thank you to my good friend Steve Ling for his gracious acceptance of his £10 fine for threatening the Life of the Club Captain of John O Gaunt. Also, a big thankyou to our Xmas Jumper winner, Dave McGarry who was true to his Xmas Message and doubled the £10 fine to £20 and paid it to Prostate Cancer.

So, I hope you will support us this year with small tokens levied for misdemeanours reported to the Captain and passed to Prostrate Cancer. Chief enforcers, informers and general sneaks will be Vice Captain Martyn, Charity Fund Raiser Dave McGarry, Match Managers and any of you who wish to inform me!!

We are now planning for the next 50 years and although our current Hon Sec has seen us admirably through most of the first 50 !!! he is stalling at committing to the next 50.
So very sadly and with a heavy heart we must find a replacement.

We have created a Job Description for the current Secretary role, it is frightening what this wonderful man does for us and I cannot imagine anyone who is sane wanting to take on everything that Chris currently does.
So, we have created two roles, Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer and it looks a lot better.
If any of you would like to know more or would like to register an interest, please contact me directly.
Mobile 07885 196997 or email davidandtina@live.co.uk
You will note that I have not mentioned salary, that is because there isn’t one, although there are some small perks.

Your committee, Chris Foster, Pete Samsa, Martyn Latch, Mike Davies & I hope to appoint replacements later this year to work alongside Chris for a while allowing him to retire as he thinks fit.
Let me assure you, that will be one party not to be missed!!

I am looking forward to playing with as many of you as I can this year, I truly hope you have a magnificent season.

My kindest regards to you all

David Hawkins
