Good performances in the Skevington Salver competition at Cainhoe Wood GC

The Skevington Salver event was played at Cainhoe Wood GC on 26th July, 2021.

This is a team event which is played between eight players from each of Bedfordshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk over 27 holes of individual strokeplay. The weather was kind to us this year and Cainhoe Wood GC had prepared the course well. There was some excellent scoring on the day with the best individual score for the 27 holes being 6 under. Harry Lake had the best gross by a Bedfordshire player with 1 under par.

For the team event, the best three gross scores and the best three nett scores from the other five players are taken from each county. Bedfordshire finished in a creditable second position.

There were some encouraging individual performances on the day and the team score indicates that whilst there is still some work to do, we have a group of young men who will be able to continue the current success of our U18 team as they move up through the age groups.

The future looks promising.
