Our 2nd league match of the season saw us travel to The Berkshire to take on BB&O. A cloudy day with a promise of rain greeted us. Fortunately, the rain decided to go elsewhere and we had a good day weather wise.

We had a strong team out and, although we knew it would be difficult (BB&O had just beaten Middlesex 10 – 0!) we went in to the match with high spirits. Ultimately, a 7 – 3 loss was a pretty good performance. Particularly with one lost match finishing on 16th, two on 17th and my match going down to the last putt!

On a positive note, a first league win for Tom McEvoy and a solid demolition of big hitting Bob Lander by Colin Moody. But pick of the day must go to Peter Mott, who not only gave a fine Bedfordshire welcome to County Senior golf to Billy Koen, but shot a gross 66 (-5) in the process! Great job Peter!

We look forward to welcoming Essex to Aspley Guise in the next few weeks.

Steve Montague

Seniors Captain
