The County first team's last match of the season against BB&O took place at Dunstable Downs Golf Club on Sunday 21st August 2011, surprisingly without any wind, but an excellent sunny day for golf. Unfortunately it was not an excellent day for Bedfordshire who went down 8-4 in the match.
The morning foursomes were lost 3-1 with Niall Johnston and John Fox taking our only point winning 4/3, this was John's debut for the first team and he played very well.
As usual when you lose the foursomes it's very difficult to get it back in the singles, and so it proved to be with Bedfordshire winning three matches and BB&O taking five, our winners were Darren Close, the reliable Rob Sutton, and 17 year old Connor Boyle winning his first senior match against their very experienced Captain Malcolm Reid.
Whilst results have been difficult to achieve this season we have at least been able to find a squad that will serve the county for well in the future, with plenty of individual development still to come. My thanks to all the officials for their support, and in particular Dunstable for allowing the use of their excellent facilities at such short notice.
Philip Corke, County Captain.
