Stuart Goode Trophy 2022

Tuesday 22nd March 2022

A fantastic performance from Junior Alex Robins saw him win all 3 of his leading games against the legendry Phil Sutton, First team player Scott Armitage and Colts Joe Kirby. First Team Skipper Rob Brightman led the way for the First Team with 3 wins before Colts Matt Green brought 3 points home. Carmine De Silva gave a late showing for the Seniors with a full house, and plaudits must go to Junior Harry Lake for a never say die 3 halves. However it all came down to the last match where the ever improving Aidan Abbott brought home 2.5 points for the Colts as did the ever reliable Paul Kitching. The result being First & Colts drawing 13.5 each, closely followed by the Seniors and Juniors. Pictured below skippers Rob Brightman & Ollie Bryant.

On Monday 9th May the County Seniors played our 1st League match following a couple of successful friendly matches.
Our hosts BB&O took us to the delightful Denham Golf Club which was as always in excellent condition and a treat for those who had not previously played there, the match was as is always the case when our two Counties meet competitive but played in a very friendly spirit between golfing friends.
We were led out by Dickie Harris who had an very good 3&1 win against George Wilson, unfortunately Colin Beard going out 2 struggled with his yardages in a testing wind and lost narrowly to Mike Saunders, Motty and Alan both went down to strong opponents but our new boy Ian Farrant started his first league season in style with a good win against BB&O’s top North American player. Paul Sennett gained a creditable half against former Bedfordshire player Mark Stokes a result matched by Steve Kavanagh in his match v Mike Goodwin, unfortunately I went into the game with a back problem which became a bit more than a problem after 3 holes and even an overdose of pain killers failed to help and I lost to Gary Munford, Smudger came us against the strong and always reliable Ian Oakes and also lost as did Banners playing tail gunner a position he may well now be sacked from.
So a final score of 7-3 to a strong BB&O team which was no disgrace for us and certainly gives us something to build on going forward, thank you to all those who represented the County and we now move on to a friendly v Northamptonshire on Monday 16th.
        Andy Brown.
        Seniors Captain.
