Boys Championship

The Boy's Championships were held on Wednesday 31st July at Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands Golf Club.

The older boys in the Under 18 & Under 16 age groups played 36 holes, whilst the younger boys in the Under 14 and Under 12 groups only play 18 holes.

The Boys Champion, who will go forward to represent Bedfordshire at the Champion of Champions weekend at Woodhall Spa, was Harry Boyle from Beadlow Manor Golf Club. Harry - in the Under 18 age group - shot a fine gross 142 to finish 2 over par and he pipped Luke Charnley from South Beds by just 1 shot. The Under 16's Champion was Bradley Finch who shot 147 to finish 5 over and beat his fellow Aylesbury Vale member, Will Bond by three shots. Well played to both of them.

The Under 14's Championship could not have been tighter. Ryan Smith from Dunstable Downs and Luke Charalambous from Beadlow Manor both shot a gross 79 which meant a sudden death playoff. Poor old Luke, who had already changed into a suit, had to put his golf clothes back on and both players teed it up again on the first. Only one hole was necessary though as Ryan Smith won the first extra hole to become Under 14's Champion. In the youngest age group, J R Ellis from host club Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands won with a gross 88 - runner up was Edward Stevenson from Leighton Buzzard with 94.

The boys were a credit to their Clubs with most looking very smart for the presentation. Aspley Guise and Woburn Sands Golf Club looked after us all very well, and the course was presented in fine condition. Thank you to the Club and members for hosting this Championships for us.
