County Fourball 2013

The County Fourball Championships were held yesterday (25th August 2013) at Beadlow Manor on the Baron Course. Despite almost 24 hours of heavy rain - it was, after all, a bank holiday weekend - the course was in very good condition. Play began at 8.00 am with it still raining although the forecast was for things to improve during the day.

The morning leaders were local youngsters Elliott Appleby & Harry Boyle (Beadlow Manor GC) with a betterball score of 43 stableford points from Iain MacFarlane & Richard Caunt (Bedfordshire GC) who had 42 points. A group of five pairs were close behind on 41 points so there was everything to play for in the afternoon in the warm sunshine which we had been promised.

The best afternoon round came from James Curley & Paul Robson (Mount Pleasant GC) who shot 44 points to give them a two round total of 85. This was enough to give them victory by just 2 points from runners up Iain and Richard who finished with 83 points to just pip the morning leaders Elliott and Harry who also had 83 points but lost out on count back.

Beadlow Manor were excellent hosts throughout the day with the course presented very well and good catering at lunchtime and after play had finished, and they were thanked warmly by County President, Clive Allen in his presentation remarks. He is pictured with James Curley & Paul Robson who were presented with the trophy and prize vouchers. Full results can be found via this link.
