Seniors County Championships

The 2013 Seniors County Championships were held yesterday (2nd September) at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club. 42 experienced players were in the field and despite almost perfect weather conditions of warm, dry sunshine with hardly any wind, they generally found low scoring difficult.

The new County Champion - pictured with County President, Clive Allen - was Tim Bevan from Chalgrave Manor Golf Club who shot a gross 75 and will now go forward to represent Bedfordshire at the Champion of Champions weekend at Woodhall Spa later in September. The gross runner up was Philip White from John O'Gaunt Golf Club who shot 78.

There are also prizes and trophies in four age group categories.

Winner of the 55 - 59 age group was John Haines from the Bedfordshire Golf Club, pictured below.

Winner of the 60 - 64 age group was Steve Montague from Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands Golf Club, pictured below.

Winner of the 65 - 69 age group was John Tarbox from Leighton Buzzard Golf Club, pictured below.

Winner of the over 70 age group was Mike Rallison from Bedford & County Golf Club, also pictured below.

A sincere thank you to the management and members of Leighton Buzzard Golf Club for their kind hospitality on the day, and to all their green staff and caterers for looking after the players and officials so well.

This was the final Championships of the season and thanks must also go to John Burgoyne (Competition Secretary) and to Mike Smith (Starter and Tournament Referee) for all their dedication and hard work - not just today but all season. Thanks chaps.
