BBC 3 counties radio - Girls Golf Rocks

Bedfordshire is running the Girls Golf Rocks program which is funded by England Golf & the Golf Foundation to attract beginners (Girls 5-18years) to have fun, learn a new sport, get active and play alongside friends with no pressure.

Holly Aitchinson - European tour player, Bridie Quinn BLCGA County Captain and Chanel Fontaine-Geary one of the young mentors were interviewed live on BBC 3 Counties to promote this campaign.  You can listen here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04xrfl9#t=2h41m19s
(scroll to the last 15 minutes to hear the girls interview)

12 of Bedfordshire junior County Girl golfers from the county squad will act as Ambassadors, sharing their enjoyment and inspiring other girls.

The project tees off with free taster sessions in April as shown below, followed by coaching courses with PGA professionals, together with all-important support from the ambassadors. If you want to refer to the Girls Golf Rocks Facebook page where people can view the video and the Get into golf website where online booking for taster and structure coaching can be made.

Girls Golf Rocks will launch in Bedfordshire with FREE taster sessions at:

The Bedford Golf Club on Saturday - 22 April from 12-2pm

Leighton Buzzard Golf Club on Saturday - 22 April from 3-5pm

Beadlow Manor Golf Club on Saturday - 22 April from 3-5pm

Tilsworth Golf Centre on Sunday - 23 April from 2-4pm

To book  Contact the above clubs or Getintogolf.org/girlsgolfrocks/ twitter or facebook or just turn up on day.

Following the tasters, the four centres will each offer a five-week coaching course with PGA professionals, when the ambassadors will be on hand to encourage the newcomers. All the girls completing the coaching courses will be given a US Kids Golf 7-iron to help them get started.

Then, the new players will be invited to a fun day with the ambassadors featuring multi-skills challenges and the chance to play on a golf course.
