Bedfordshire Juniors

Junior golfers in Bedfordshire have been raising money for the NHS Charities Together Covid 19 Appeal which aims to help NHS staff, volunteers and patients who are impacted by the crisis.

During the "lockdown" period we have kept some of our junior golfers occupied by exchanging practice drills and ideas via a WhatsApp Group. We have also done a few Rules demonstration videos. One of our juniors even sat the online R&A Level 1 Rules Exam - he passed of course! We made a short video which had the players hitting a golf ball around the county. Then, one of the Junior Managers had an idea.....

Inspired by the efforts of Captain Tom Moore in April, the youngsters have been practising their chipping in preparation for a 100 ball challenge to see how many they can successfully chip into a bucket from 10 yards. Parents will be filming their efforts and a short video will be produced at a later date. In the meantime, friends and family have been invited to sponsor their efforts with the proceeds going to the Appeal. The players have, as usual, put a lot of effort into the venture and have raised more than £3,000 already. Bedfordshire County Golf will also be making a generous donation of £2,000.

This has been a great example of the dedication and team spirit of the junior golfers in Bedfordshire and the positive attitude to junior golf which is present throughout the county.

Huge thanks go to everyone who has so generously donated to the cause, to Bedfordshire County Golf for it's support and commitment to junior golf and, most of all, to our young golfers who fill us with pride.
