Bedfordshire Schools Scratch Championships

The Bedfordshire Schools County Scratch Championships were held at South Beds GC, Luton saw Roisin Scanlon (Bedford Girls / Bedfordshire GC) retained both titles again for a third successive year.  Meanwhile Ed Wade (Bedford School / Harpenden Common GC) became the first ever player to hold both Boys titles at the same time since the Individual Championships started in 1990.  Bedford School reversed the clean sweep achieved last year by Wootton Academy Trust by also taking the Team title as their 2nd team of Ed Wade, Freddie Tucker and Shaun Thomas outperformed the 1st team.  They now qualify to represent Bedfordshire in the ESGA National Team Championships to be held at the home of England Golf at Woodhall Spa next July.

Ed Wade, Archie Mathers and Freddie Tucker (all Bedford School) also gained an automatic selection into the Bedfordshire Schools team to play in the SE Schools Championship next May to be held at St Neots GC, Cambs, alongside Roisin Scanlon for the Girls.  Other places will be decided in a final selection trial next April.

Best efforts from BGU players came from Dillon Basi  (Lincroft Academy / Bedfordshire GC) who was runner up on countback with a gross 79 from Connor Tallentire (Wootton Upper/ Beds & County GC) in the U/16 Championship.  Alex Robins (Bedford School / Aylesbury Vale GC) came 4th in the U/19 Championship by a single shot on 77.  Freddie Kirk (Sharnbrook Academy /Pavenham Park GC) won the Best Nett prize with a 69.
