On 20th August Beds U16’s played their 2nd League Match in the round robin series against Herts & BBO at Welwyn Garden City Golf Club.
The morning foursomes saw Beds boys off to a good start, going into lunch with a match score leading Herts by 3 ½ to a ½ and finishing on equal terms 2 all with BBO.
A special mention for the Beds pair Keiran Barrett and Jack Hawksby. Jack (deputising as a late replacement for the injured Sam Flannery) and Keiran took on Herts and BBO top pairs, winning both matches comprehensively 4&3 and 7&5 respectively.
In the afternoon despite the class act of Bradley Finch winning both his matches convincingly 7&6 and 6&4 with under par golf, the Beds team found points hard to come by, took Alex Bithrey and Ryan Hodges to secure good victories against Herts opposition, for the team to get over the line in beating the home side 6 ½ to 5 ½.
BBO on the day proved too strong for Beds in the singles and the match ended in BBO’s favour 7½ to 4½.
With Herts and BBO having a drawn match, this leaves the league wide open, all to play for in the final match at Pavenham Park on Thursday 30th.
