Following on from indifferent days and results at both the Regional Foursomes at Sheringham in which we were unable to repeat last years win, and the SEG Six Man team held at Heasham Manor we returned to league action with a home fixture v Middlesex on Monday 24th  July at Bedfordshire Golf Club. As has come to be expected both teams were very well looked after and the course was presented in excellent condition, In my absence Dickie Harris took the Captains roll and I understand delivered a Churchill / Woodward inspiring post match team talk. Well what ever he said it certainly worked!! with the unfortunate exception of Dave Banwell who sadly went lame and had to concede his match the rest produced a clean sweep for what I’m sure is Bedfordshire Seniors first ever 9-1 win. This leaves us currently on top of the league and whatever happens in other outstanding fixtures if we can go to Hertfordshire on September 4th and win we could be crowned as league champions!! and that’s something I didn’t think I’d be saying this late in the season. Thank you to all who represented the County so well and Steve Kavanagh who went along to encourage and offer assistance which I know was appreciated by all who played.
